How long will my service take?

We aim to get most repairs done on the same day for bikes dropped off in the morning, depending on the availability of parts and the number of bikes in the queue.

What service do I need?

We recommend a main service around every 6-8 months, depending on use. If your bike hasn’t been serviced for a number of years, or you have a lovely bike that you want to keep that way, then the Big Butternut Service (£130) is the one for you. For most people the Butternut Service (Main Service) for £95 is the way to go. Don’t worry, if you book the wrong service, we are happy to advise you. We never recommend more work than is suitable for you, your bike, your needs or your budget.

If you’re really unsure or the booking list doesn’t have a category for you, then just book what seems most similar and we will talk about what exactly you want doing when you arrive (but for bikes booked in for a service we always give you a price before we start work). The important thing at the moment is that with a booking you know you can drop your bike off and we’ll have time to do it.

Do I need to book for a puncture repair?

No, you don’t need to book for a puncture repair or inner tube fitting, just bring your bike in and we’ll fix it there and then. Puncture repair costs £20 including labour and the inner tube.

What’s the difference between the Butternut and the Big Butternut services?

The Big Butternut is a full strip-down and rebuild of your bike. It’s for high-end bikes or those that haven’t been serviced for some time. This will also apply if we need to start taking bottom brackets out, servicing hubs or removing lots of rust! For 11 speed road bikes we often need to do a gold service on bikes we haven’t worked on before. The Butternut (Main Service) is a good option for fixing almost everything on your bike and getting you out riding smoothly, comfortably and safely again. With each option, if your bike needs extra – or less – attention than what you booked for, we’ll let you know and give you a quote before we start work.

What time should I bring my bike?

We don’t have specific appointment times, just come as early as you like on the day of your booking, if you want to drop off the day before, that’s cool too. You don’t need to let us know what time that will be 🙂
