What To Do If my Bike Handlebars Have Been Stolen?
What’s worse than having your bike stolen? Well, not much*, but right up there is having parts of your bike stolen. In London, we are increasingly seeing the theft of handlebars and shifters.
You can make a booking for a bike service or repair, the online booking system works really well, we promise! We are also now doing bike fits every Saturday and Monday, bike fits in our London shop can be booked here.
We do try and save some time for simple walk-in repairs every day, so if that’s the case, just pop in and we will see if we can help. Punctures do not need an appointment. £20 for a puncture repair including new tube, or £15 if you just bring us the wheel and not the bike. All done while you wait.
Bicycle repairs and services and cycling accessories for sale – all from friendly experts in Crouch End’s newest (and oldest) bike shop! We will usually fix punctures repairs while you wait, and you can pop in any time during opening hours to buy locks, lights, helmets, mudguards, tyres, inner tubes, panniers and many other bike and cycling supplies. We fix all kinds of bikes, including Bromptons, kids bikes and even will try and help you with your wheelchair or buggy.
For bike services or other repairs, please book online or come in to discuss what is needed. For other queries, we would prefer an email or WhatsApp message over a phone call – to allow us to concentrate on fixing bikes during the day! We will reply promptly.
We are loving getting the good people of Crouch End out and about on their bikes, and long may it continue!
Keep your bike in tip-top shape. A service is recommended once every six months to a year, but if it's been longer than that, don't worry, we specialise in bringing old bikes back to life! A main service is just £75.

Our full bike service costs £75 and includes a thorough cleaning and work on the gears, brakes, all other major moving parts, etc. Many other shops have this priced as a “premium” service. The cost of any new parts will be added on, including chains, cassettes, cables and brake pads (from £5).
Repairs range from £10 to fix brakes or gears. If your bike requires more or less repairing, we will tell you when we assess it and provide a quote before we start the work. We understand that everyone has a budget to work to. If you don't have an appointment, just pop by and we'll try to help
Flat tyre? No problem. Just pop into the shop and we will fix your flat tyre for just £15. No need to call ahead or book. We also have new tyres and inner tubes if you need them of all sizes.
Join the Butternut Cycling Collective to make friends and join group rides! All levels and types of bikes are welcome, the point is to have fun, get out cycling and share tips and routes. Follow us on Instagram @ButternutBikesCC or drop us a line for the WhatsApp group link.
You can book online for your repairs now, and that's the best way to do it. We don't go ahead with any repairs before talking to you, but if you want an idea of what needs doing, just come down with your bike any time and we'll give you a quote.
We’ll check over brand new bikes with snagging issues (a common problem with bikes bought from large retailers or online) and show you some hints and tips. A really worthwhile thing to do when you've got a new bike.
Our shared passion for bikes is what got us into this lucky position of opening Crouch End’s first bike repair shop in a year. With our vast and varied background, with experience in high street and independent bike shops, bike companies and cycling advocacy, and will work hard to get you out reaping the many benefits of cycling as quickly, safely and enjoyably as possible.
As a new and independent bike shop opening during the first Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, we are working hard to secure spare parts, accessories and other necessities and quickly as possible - even with widespread delays and shortages. We intend to keep our prices fair and competitive, while staying true to our mission to ensure every bike we fix rolls out the doors safely, comfortably and smoothly.
We started as mobile bike mechanics roaming Hornsey and Crouch End during the first Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, and found our first home in Crouch End's lovely Railway Tavern pub. Within weeks, and with much love for the Railway Tavern and our customers, we moved into our Crouch Hill shop.
Our aim is always to get bikes repaired and back to you the same day. It's not always possible depending on what parts are needed, but we try!
