Use our shiny new booking system below. Just enter your details, pick a date, and drop your bike off with us in Crouch End.
This is the fastest and easiest way to reserve your workshop spot. Once we’ve had a look, we’ll be in touch with a quote by email and text message before starting any work. Repairs are usually done the same day or ready to collect the next day.
Please note that we’re closed on Sundays and Mondays, because we’ve got to ride bikes sometime. Saturday drop-offs are very welcome, but anything but simple repairs are unlikely to be finished on Saturdays, as we’re usually busy with bike sales and quick weekend fixes.
We also have good supplies of spare parts, accessories, bags, pannier racks, lights, locks, tubes and other useful bike bits. You do not need an appointment to come in and buy things, and we can often fit them for you too. Quick repairs can often be done on the spot. We can normally replace tyres in 20 minutes or so.
For urgent repairs or questions, book the next available slot, then send us an email or a WhatsApp and we’ll do our best to speed things up. Email or WhatsApp is best, as we’re often with customers or up to our elbows in bike muck. If you’re unsure what you need, just book something and we can discuss it when you arrive.
We’ll always contact you before starting any repair that needs new parts or extra work. If you’re after specific parts or an upgrade, just let us know. We have lots of options to help get your bike running smoothly, comfortably and safely.
You do not need to book or call for a puncture, new tyre, inner tube replacement, quick repair or to buy accessories. Just come in. We’ll always try to fix punctures while you wait, or while you go down the road for tea or coffee, but it depends how busy the workshop is.
For any questions or a quick assessment, feel free to pop in with your bike during opening hours. More answers to commonly asked questions are below.
How long will my service take?
We aim to get most repairs done on the same day for bikes dropped off in the morning, depending on the availability of parts and the number of bikes in the queue.
What service do I need?
We recommend a main service around every 6-8 months, depending on use. If your bike hasn’t been serviced for a number of years, or you have a lovely bike that you want to keep that way, then the Big Butternut Service (£130) is the one for you. For most people the Butternut Service (Main Service) for £95 is the way to go. Don’t worry, if you book the wrong service, we are happy to advise you. We never recommend more work than is suitable for you, your bike, your needs or your budget.
We may not be able to do individual repairs to gears or brakes if the bike as a whole isn’t safe, but don’t worry, we can advise you!
If you’re really unsure or the booking list doesn’t have a category for you, then just book what seems most similar and we will talk about what exactly you want doing when you arrive (but for bikes booked in for a service we always give you a price before we start work). The important thing at the moment is that with a booking you know you can drop your bike off and we’ll have time to do it.
Do I need to book for a puncture repair?
No, you don’t need to book for a puncture repair or inner tube fitting, just bring your bike in and we’ll fix it there and then. Puncture repair costs £20 including labour and the inner tube.
What’s the difference between the Butternut and the Big Butternut services?
The Big Butternut is a full strip-down and rebuild of your bike. It’s for high-end bikes or those that haven’t been serviced for some time. This will also apply if we need to start taking bottom brackets out, servicing hubs or removing lots of rust! For 11 speed road bikes we often need to do a gold service on bikes we haven’t worked on before. The Butternut (Main Service) is a good option for fixing almost everything on your bike and getting you out riding smoothly, comfortably and safely again. With each option, if your bike needs extra – or less – attention than what you booked for, we’ll let you know and give you a quote before we start work.
What time should I bring my bike?
We don’t have specific appointment times, just come as early as you like on the day of your booking, if you want to drop off the day before, that’s cool too. You don’t need to let us know what time that will be 🙂
