If you’ve seen a bike around London with two kids on the back, it’s probably a Tern GSD, and there is a good chance that we sold it! They are such awesome bikes, we love seeing them around, and helping our customers to get moving.

The GSD can take kids from 6 months old (parents choice!) and there are accommodation options for two youngsters, we’ve even got a customer in his 70’s who takes his wife to the opera on theirs…

Why the GSD S10 is London’s family electric cargo bike

The GSD S10 is the go-to longtail for school runs and weekend jobs. Same length as a normal bike, rated to 210 kg, and happy with two kids on the back. It replaces short car trips, fits in tight spaces, and has accessories for every setup. If you see a bike with two happy kids on it around North London, it’s probably a Tern GSD, and there’s a good chance that we sold it.

Carry kids safely

Two child seats from toddler to bigger kids, or a single older passenger with the Captain’s Chair. Rear wheel protectors and folding footrests are included. Add Sun and Rain Shields to keep them comfy year-round.

Try it on our hill

The best way to choose is to ride it. Bring the kids, load some bags and try the hill outside the shop. We will set the bike up properly and talk through accessories.

FAQs

How many kids can the GSD S10 carry?
The rear rack is rated to 100 kg and the bike to 210 kg total. In practice that is up to two children on approved seats or one older child or adult using the Captain’s Chair. We will help you pick the right kit.
What range should I expect with passengers?
Roughly 30 to 60 miles on the 545 Wh battery depending on load, hills, temperature and assist mode. Add a second battery if you want consistent long days or heavy loads.
Will it get up steep North London hills?
Yes. The Cargo Line motor is tuned for load and delivers up to 85 Nm. Start in a low gear and let the motor do the work. Come ride our local hill and feel it.
Why does ABS matter on a cargo bike?
When you are loaded, emergency stops can get lively. ABS helps prevent front-wheel lock and keeps steering control, especially in the wet or on rough surfaces. We were sceptical, but it’s really amazing, and we even have a little gravel track to test it on.
Is it heavy to handle off the bike?
It is a stout build, which is why it feels so stable with cargo. Use the locking dual kickstand and the saddle handle to manoeuvre. We can show you the easy way in the shop. Definitely a lot easier vs an Urban Arrow or something like that.
Do you fit accessories and child seats?
Yes. We stock and fit Tern passenger kits, seats and luggage. We will set the bike up for your child’s age and weight and check clearances and foot protection.
Can I use Cycle to Work?
Yes. We work with Cyclescheme.co.uk, GoGeta, Cycle Solutions, Vivup, GCI and others. We can quote it properly so there are no surprises on collection day.
What security do you recommend?
At home: a ground or wall anchor plus a high-security chain. Out and about: a lock that resists grinders for longer. Ask us for a setup that fits your parking plan. We work with insurers and bike insurance is super useful too.
What maintenance should I plan for?
Regular brake checks, tyre pressure and chain care. We will set service intervals based on mileage and use. The S10 parts are cargo-rated and built for the job.
