Description
The Ridgeback Errand is a proper little workhorse and genuinely fun to ride. Compact, cute and incredibly practical, it’s now an absolute steal at £699. That’s £1,100 off the original retail price. No corners cut, no mystery-brand components, just a solid UK-designed e-bike with real warranties and real backup from our shop.
It’s built around a tough 6061 alloy frame and 20-inch wheels, with a very low step-through and an adjustable stem. One size fits most adults (roughly 5ft to 6ft 4in), and it’s great for sharing within a household.
The Promovec hub motor gives you 54 Nm of torque, which is plenty for North London’s hills. The 375 Wh battery pops off with a key for indoor charging, takes about four hours to top up, and even has a USB port for accessories. For typical errands and commutes, the range is spot on.
It comes fully equipped: front rack, mudguards, wired lights, kickstand and an AXA frame lock. If you add a rear rack, you can carry panniers or a child seat up to 27 kg. That makes it a brilliant nursery-run bike if you don’t want to stretch to something like the Tern Quick Haul (https://butternutbikes.co.uk/product/tern-quick-haul-long/).
On the road, the Errand feels agile and surprisingly stable. Big Apple tyres smooth things out, and the hydraulic brakes give plenty of stopping power. The power delivery is a bit punchy compared to mid-drives, but once you’re used to it, it’s great for quick getaways at traffic lights.
If you want a cheerful, practical, low-maintenance e-bike for everyday life, this is a bit of a no-brainer at £699.
