The all-new MX178 combines Lake’s Sport Comfort Last with a durable off-road sole system, creating a versatile cycling shoe for gravel, trail, commuting, touring, and everyday riding.
Built around a broader, less tapered forefoot shape, the Sport Comfort Last promotes natural toe splay and additional toe space while maintaining a stable platform for efficient pedaling. Underfoot, a fiberglass-injected nylon midsole provides supportive power transfer with controlled flex, while durable TPU lugs add traction and stability away from smooth pavement.

Fit and build

Fit: Anatomical through the forefoot with added toe room and reduced taper, while the midfoot and heel remain securely supported. The platform feels more forgiving than a carbon race shoe but retains enough structure for efficient mixed-terrain pedaling.

Upper: The MX178 is offered in Burro Brown recycled suede leather or Black microfiber [Non- Leather]. The leather option adds natural texture and a more flexible material feel, while microfiber [Non-Leather] provides consistent structure and lower-maintenance performance. Both use durable panel construction shaped for repeated mixed-surface use.

Sole: Lake’s Enduro sole pairs a fiberglass- injected nylon midsole with durable TPU lugs. The semi-rigid platform provides the support needed for efficient pedaling while maintaining controlled flex for mixed-terrain comfort. Durable thermoplastic lugs add lightweight traction and stability across pavement, gravel, dirt, and trail surfaces. A 2-bolt SPD interface keeps the shoe ride-ready.

Closure: A single BOA® L6 dial provides quick, micro- adjustable control across the upper. The side- mounted layout balances tension through the forefoot, midfoot, and instep, while the padded tongue helps soften pressure.
