We have a Tern GSD that people can rent. Most people who rent it are deciding whether to buy a cargo bike, and a week of real school runs tells you far more than a test ride up the hill. Others just need a cargo bike for a bit.

Call it renting, hiring or borrowing, it is the same thing: our GSD, set up with the child seats your family needs, from the shop in Crouch End, North London, for a day, a weekend or a week.

Two parents and their kids with a Tern GSD cargo bike

Rent before you buy

A cargo bike is a lot of money, and the question people actually have is not about the spec. It is whether they will really ride it every day and feel happy with the kids on the back. Once you have lived with one for a bit you are in a much better position to know whether it is worth it for you. That is exactly why we rent ours out.

Our rental bike is a Gen 1 GSD. The current GSD S10 Gen 3 and P00 are a step on again, so if you get on with the rental you will get on with the new one. If you are not sure which GSD to buy afterwards, this guide walks through the differences.
