The UTO ESS20 is UTO’s way in: a straightforward 20″ folding e-bike that keeps the essentials and drops the extras, which makes it the most affordable bike in the range. It’s a sensible first e-bike for commuting, and it folds in about 10 seconds for the car boot, a campervan or under a desk.
Why we like it
It uses simple, easy-to-service parts: a Shimano Tourney 7-speed, Tektro mechanical disc brakes and CST tyres with reflective sidewalls. The removable 378Wh battery is the same size as the OG20’s, good for up to 70km. It fits riders from 1.50m to 1.90m, with a 130kg limit, and the rear rack takes 25kg.
If you want a torque sensor and hydraulic brakes, the UTO OG20 is the step up, for £600 more.

Pop in Tuesday to Saturday, or call us on 020 8347 5534, and take one of our UTOs up the hill outside the shop to get a feel for it before you decide. We build and check every bike in our own workshop, and we service and repair what we sell. Every UTO is designed and hand-assembled in the Lyon region of France, and if you register it with UTO you get an extra 5-year warranty on the frame and fork.
