The Belter 20 Auto has 20″ wheels, a belt drive and a Sturmey Archer 2-speed automatic hub that changes up by itself as they pick up speed, so there are no gears to think about. It suits children around 6 to 8 years with an inside leg of at least 52 cm. It weighs 7.7 kg without pedals, with Tektro brakes on short-reach levers and 2.0″ Schwalbe Billy Bonkers tyres.
Early Rider make the coolest kids’ bikes around. We love the belt drive for zero mess: no oily chain, nothing black on the school trousers. And it comes at a great price too, as a belt drive usually adds about £300 to the cost of any bike. They ride beautifully as well. They are iconic in brushed silver, but the new colours look great. Gav (shop owner)’s own daughter rides one and loves it on the BMX track.
