The UTO PRO20 (previously the Eovolt Afternoon PRO) is the one we’d point most people towards if they want a folding e-bike that rides like a proper bike. The 20″ wheels and Schwalbe Big Apple tyres give it a stable, comfortable ride on London roads, and the two-speed motor changes gear on its own, so there are no gears to think about and no chain to oil. It picked up five awards in 2025, including a Red Dot and Eurobike Gold.
Why we like it
UTO’s Loop self-locking hinges mean you pull two tabs and it folds, with a magnet holding the two halves together so it doesn’t flop open when you carry it. Folded, it’s 86 x 69.5 x 46cm, small enough for a car boot, under a desk or into the corner of a flat. The Gates carbon belt keeps trousers clean and needs next to no maintenance, the lights come on automatically, the battery sits in the seatpost behind a built-in ABUS lock, and there’s an SP Connect phone mount and a hidden AirTag compartment. It fits riders from 1.45m to 1.90m, so it’s easy to share between a household.
If you need it smaller for trains and the Tube, look at the UTO PRO16. If you don’t need the motor, the UTO PRO20 NE is the same frame at 14.8kg.
