Description
The P00 is the GSD with an Enviolo hub and a Gates belt where the S10 has a chain and derailleur. Same Gen 3 frame, same Bosch Cargo Line motor. We tend to recommend it for people who live in slightly flatter areas, or who’d benefit from the simplicity of the shifting: you never have to think about what gear you’re in.
If you loved the old GSD S00, this is the one that replaced it.
What you get
- Bosch Cargo Line Smart System motor. The same motor as the S10 and R14, so hills with two kids on the back are fine.
- Enviolo Heavy Duty hub gears. Twist the grip to change gear, including when you’re stood still at the lights.
- Gates carbon belt. No oil, no rust, close to silent, and it lasts a lot longer than a chain.
- Purion 200 display with the Bosch eBike Flow app.
A closer look, on a bike in our shop
These are our own photos of a brand new School Bus Yellow P00 at the shop, so you can see the bits that make it different.
The belt drive

Most bikes drive the back wheel with a chain. The P00 uses a toothed Gates belt reinforced with carbon fibre instead. It runs dry, so there’s no oil and no black marks on your hands, your trousers or the kids. It’s close to silent, it doesn’t rust if the bike lives outside, and it lasts a lot longer than a chain.
The Enviolo hub and twist shifter

The gears live inside the back wheel, sealed away from rain and grit, and they don’t work like normal gears. There is no first, second or third. You twist the grip and the gearing changes smoothly from easy to hard. The shifter shows a little rider on a hill, so you never think in numbers. If the pedals feel heavy, you twist. If your legs are spinning, you twist back.
You can do it sitting still at the lights, which you can’t with derailleur gears. With two kids on the back, setting off in the right gear matters.
Standing by

Like every GSD, the P00 stands up on its back end, so it takes up much less floor space when you park it. When you do, the frame has a message for you: “GSD standing by”.
P00 or S10?
They cost the same and they’re both really great bikes. It’s just a decision people have to make.
The P00 is the simple one. There are no gears to think about: you twist the grip and it gets easier or harder, and you can do it standing still at the lights. The belt never needs oiling. If you’d rather just get on and ride, this is the one. A lot of London dealers sell more of the P00 than the S10.
The S10 has ABS and derailleur gears, plus a built in tracker, a bigger display that comes off the bike, USB-C charging, a Thudbuster seatpost and better tyres and fork.
Where you live comes into it a bit. Round here it’s hilly: Muswell Hill, Highgate, Hampstead, Crouch End, Archway. The P00 gets up all of those absolutely fine, and for a lot of people who live on the hills it’s still the better bike for them. If you’re going up and down the really steep ones every single day, the S10’s ABS and derailleur gears can be a little bit better, which is why we sell a lot of them. In flatter areas like Tottenham, Islington or Highbury, the P00 is a great choice.
We’re very happy to sell both. Ride them back to back, they’re both in the shop.

A quick note on the name
Yes, it’s called the P00. Tern’s product managers clearly had a long day when they signed that one off.
Good news: it doesn’t shout “P00” at you on the frame, and no one at the school gates is going to clock it unless you tell them.
Come and ride it
We keep the P00 and the S10 in the shop, so you can ride one straight after the other on the hill outside. 143 Crouch Hill, N8 9QH. Ring 020 8347 5534 or book a test ride.
Build your Tern to suit you.
We normally keep the key Tern accessories in stock, including Clubhouses, Stow Decks and front racks, and can supply the full Tern range. Ask us if you would like help checking compatibility or planning a complete setup.
